Cubs Bring Sexy Back

Just when you think the Cubs forgot what a home run was they hit 3 homers today including 2 by Alfonso Soriano in the Cubs 8-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. Derrek Lee started off the game hitting a 2 run homer off of Red's starter Aaron Harang. Aaron Harang pitched 10 innings last Monday against the Brewers but Harang only lasted 1 inning today after leaving the game with an injury. Mike Gosling came in the ballgame in the 2nd inning and gave up a 3 run homer to Alfonso Soriano his 17th of the year. Alfonso Soriano hit a 2 run homer in the 9th inning as well which was his 18th of the year. Ryan Dempster struggled in the bottom of the 9th but ended up getting out of a bases loaded jam even with the score 8-1.
In good news, the Milwaukee Brewers had a 5-0 lead in game 1 of a doubleheader but the Cardinals whittled back into it and won the game with a 2 run rally in the bottom of the 9th to help their arch rivals out.
In game 2 of the doubleheader, the Cardinals beat the Brewers 5-2 meaning the Cubs gained 1 1/2 games on the Brewers in 1 day and now trail the Brewers by 1.5 games in the division. The Cubs are also now tied with the Brewers in the loss column as well.
